The global objective of the Erasmus programme is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of university education by emphasizing European cooperation and increasing the access to a wide range of learning opportunities available at the European Union. The Erasmus programme offers our students the chance to understand this European dimension, go in depth into the issues they study and increase their personal experience in other countries. It also promotes the development of European identity and the capacity to adapt to changes both in different economical and social environments.

ERASMUS places special emphasis on the mobility of students by allowing them to pursue, in other countries, university studies recognised by attached centres. The students have to sign a student contract and the university tuition fees have to be paid at the Universidad de Zaragoza (at the Secretary’s Office of the centre where the studies are pursued), so there is a total exemption of tuition fees at the receiving university.

    SELECTION CRITERIA

As established by the Universidad de Zaragoza (following the recommendations of the European Education and Training Programmes), selection criteria must include:

    1. Student record
    2. Knowledge of the language spoken at the receiving university
    3. Personal motivation

With the exception of the University of Cumbria (Lancaster), where selection criteria are listed at the noticeboard of the office of the coordinator of the Department of Foreign Language, Fernando Repullés Sánchez, the coordinators of the Erasmus programme and the deputy director of the Department of International Relations have decided to give the following marks to the criteria:

    1. Student record: 3.2/4
    2. Knowledge of the language spoken at the receiving university: 0.4/4
    3. Personal motivation: 0.4/4

Personal motivation will be estimated through an interview with the candidates. Knowledge of the language spoken at the receiving university (or English for cases such as universities in Turkey, Norway, etc.) has to be proved by showing evidence such as certificates of the School of Modern Languages (Escuela Oficial de Idiomas) or the University Institute of Modern Languages (Centro Universitario de Lenguas Modernas). In case of not having any kind of certificate, knowledge of the language also will be estimated through a personal interview.
